Grail is the new backend data store built by Dynatrace from the ground up. Everything that is going to be collected with Dynatrace is going to be stored in Grail. They are starting with log use cases first. It removes any data size limitation. In addition to being able to ingest massive scale of data, there are other innovations that have been developed:
- No index generation
- No Schema administration
- No rehydration or retention policies needed anymore
In the future, Dynatrace plans to tackle the analytics market, security use cases and more. This is already being called a “threat” to Splunk:
