Show Notes:
Scott shares his thoughts and opinions on the recent OpenText acquisition of Micro Focus and what it could mean for LoadRunner and the legacy Mercury products.
- My interest is scoped only to the performance engineering suite from the Mercury Interactive product line (LoadRunner, Business Availability Center, Diagnostics, SiteScope, etc).
- There are more mentions of renewal revenue in press releases rather than investment and innovation. This is concerning.
- LoadRunner is still a big revenue generator, and Enterprises still need it. However, if OpenText ignores taking into the future, competition will eventually eat the market share. What will customers think about having to once again switch to a new owner with new pricing terms?
- According to early information, OpenText does not plan to sell or spin off any of the portfolio. This may turn out to be a mistake, especially in areas they don’t have expertise or are well known for already.
- Micro Focus bought 49.9% of the HP Enterprise (HPE) software, and HPE owns 50.1% of the stake. No one has addressed what this means.
